Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, founded in
1881 as the first collegiate business school, recently received the largest single gift ever given to
the School – $50 million from Marc J. Rowan and Carolyn Rowan. This funding will enable the
Wharton School to attract and retain world-leading faculty and support the Penn Wharton Budget
Model (PWBM), the University’s groundbreaking evidenced-based economic policy analysis

Mr. Rowan is a co-founder of Apollo Global Management, LLC, one of the largest leading U.S.
private investment groups. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of
Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with a BS and an MBA in Finance. He is also chair of Wharton’s
Board of Overseers, a Penn trustee, and co-chair of the School’s visionary More Than Ever
fundraising campaign.

Mr. and Mrs. Rowan have donated to Wharton and UPenn since 1984, their philanthropy has
been supporting undergraduate and MBA financial aid and many research and leadership
programs that address the most complex global challenges and opportunities.
